THE LOVE Hunter Vinyl Smock, $156 on sale
April showers bring the perfect opportunity to wear my Hunter raincoat. A bit more practical than the totally translucent looks from the runways at Chanel and Maison Margiela, the Hunter Vinyl Smock caters to all your rain-day needs. Plus, whenever I wear it I get compliments. But it has that effect on people; it’s attention-grabbing for being both functional and stylish. I love the slightly translucent color too (of which there are nine to choose from). Its official name is “Military Red,” but if I had to name it I’d go with “Deep Cranberry,” or maybe “Rajneeshpuram Red.” Ma Anand Sheela would totally allow this in the boutique.

Wild Wild Country aside, the Ma that I’m really more concerned with is Mother Nature, and thanks to her bi-polar tendencies, April showers could range from 30° to 60°. The jacket is nice and roomy, so layering underneath isn’t uncomfortable. I’d even say it runs a tad big, so sizing down is a good choice. Nothing can dampen your day when you’re this impermeable—you may even catch me singing in the rain.
