The Dior Saddle Bag Is Back and Bigger Than​ Ever


Fashion is cyclical, but it seems like the tokens of the early aughts were barely in our rearview mirror before they started making a comeback: There’s the return of the monogram, Blair Waldorf legwear, and, with a warm welcome, this Sex and the City staple. Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite bag was indefinitely the Fendi Bageutte (which also made its comeback a few seasons ago), but when she wasn’t buying knockoff Fendi from the boot of a car, she was carrying another it-bag.

Christian Dior saw the return of their Diorissimo print last season, but it appears that creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri is eager for another dip in the throwback pool. Their recent fall 2018 runway saw the resurrection of the Saddle Bag, iconic for its oblong shape in unexpected prints. This time, the style was reworked in patchwork and beads.

Despite its official return on the runway, celebs have been hot on the saddle trail for a minute. Example: this mesmerizing Beyoncé GIF saved on my desktop for midday meditation.

If you, too, have thought “Paris Hilton’s style wasn’t that bad,” consider this bag. Brand new Saddle styles won’t be released in stores until Fall, but for now shopped out some vintage selects in their classic print, embroidered butterflies, and one that has a mini license plate because apparently all bets are off.
