Rockets, Spurs get into dustup in opening game of series

Things got a little chippy between the Rockets and Spurs Monday night.

The two teams squared off in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals and it wasn’t much of a contest.

The Rockets put on a scoring display, closing the third quarter with a 96-67 lead and that’s when tempers began to flare.

Spurs’ Dewayne Dedmon went chest-to-chest with Rockets’ James Harden, the two jawing at each other when Rockets center Nene came over and pushed Dedmon by the neck off of Harden.

Players, coaches and refs came over to restrain the two players, with Nene getting ejected from the game.

Dedmon appeared to grab the ref who restrained him too, which may or may not result in some sort of discipline.

Meanwhile, the Rockets took a 1-0 series lead behind Harden’s 20 points and 14 assists, but there’s always the possibility of more fireworks to come.
