Kyle Larson’s eventful day in California wasn’t over when he left the race track.
Larson’s No. 42 Target Chevrolet barely had a scratch on it as the driver sailed off to his first Monster Energy Cup Series win of 2017.
His rental car wasn’t so lucky.
Larson, 24, was involved in a wreck as he was leaving Auto Club Speedway on Sunday night.
The Chip Ganassi Racing driver tweeted:
Larson is in his fifth season with CGR. He’s having a breakout year with one win, one pole and four top-five finishes. Larson is also enjoying a remarkable 3.8 average finish for 2017. Larson also leads the Monster Energy Cup standings. He has a 29-point lead over Chase Elliott.
The Elk Grove, California native is scheduled to return home this week to race with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway.
