Parente puts McLaren on pole at Long Beach

Alvaro Parente’s K-PAX McLaren 650S grabbed pole by 0.1sec for tomorrow’s second round of the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge.

A record-breaking lap of 1min18.883sec was enough to nudge St. Petersburg winner Pat Long down to second in his Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, as Bryan Sellers slipped a second K-PAX McLaren into third, just 0.2sec off his teammate.

Series rookie Daniel Mancinelli starred again, as he grabbed fourth for TR3 Racing in the Ferrari 488, mere hundredths ahead of the R. Ferri Ferrari 488 of Alex Riberas.

A great lap by Ryan Dalziel in the CRP Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 resulted in sixth, with Pierre Kaffer clocking seventh in the Audi R8 of Magnus Racing, and Alec Udell eighth in GMG Racing’s Porsche.

The Cadillac ATS-V.Rs of Michael Cooper and Johnny O’Connell were languishing in ninth and 12th, 0.6 and 0.9sec off Parente’s best. Peter Kox’s Acura NSX and Jon Fogarty’s Gainsco/Bob Stallings and McLaren filled the gap.

Fastest GTA driver was James Sofronas in the second GMG Porsche.
