Here’s a speed swipe through our biggest crushes from NYFW Day One…

Girls With Pussy Power
Two weeks ago, Tom Ford told the New York Times, “the culture is about objectifying women to sell things.” But with snakeskin jackets and leopard print suits, the models on his runway were clearly the predators, not the prey. A bedazzled purse that said PUSSY POWER was another loud nod to the fact that being sexy isn’t at odds with being strong…also, Kaia Gerber showed up in a black leather hair wrap, Bret Michaels-style, and people were pretty psyched.

Boys With Pink Dresses
We talk a lot about “gender fluidity” in fashion, but most of the time, that’s an excuse for skinny male designers to dress their skinnier female models in the skinniest possible suits. Not so at Sandy Liang, where beautiful people across the gender spectrum wore clothes that worshipped curves. From her signature candy-colored fuzz coats to embroidered lace dresses on girls and boys, this was a step in the right direction for modern adults with major style. Carry on, Ms. Liang!

A Turducken, But Make It Fashion
There comes a time—usually it’s right now—when winter-braving souls wish they could stop dressing like a Game of Thrones wildling without risking frostbite. Enter Colovos, the husband-and-wife label (aww!) whose ingenious combo of a cropped denim top with denim trousers under a bigger denim jacket under a giant faux fur coat looked both warm and cool. I can just imagine their muse whispering, “like a turducken, but make it fashion!”

Seeing Double
Along with pink sequined everything, Juicy Couture creative director Jamie Mizrahi gave us a few tracksuits. But the real throwback was the aviators decked with a crystal heart on one eye. If you had a thing for Chloé’s 1999 aviators (see their version on the right, above) you’ll be very excited for fall 2018.

And Speaking of Chloe…
Voila, Chloe Lukasiak, the tween Dance Moms underdog turned teen actress. She arrived at Noon by Noor in a fantastically cool camel suit that matched her hair—think Serena Van Der Woodsen, without the emotional damage. Attention, Upper East Siders… we love this look.
