NBA may get rid of sleeved jerseys with new Nike deal

LeBron James can rejoice.

The NBA’s sleeved jerseys may soon be a relic of the past as they prepare to shift their apparel provider from Adidas to Nike for the 2017-18 season.

According to the Wall St. Journal, Nike will present its initial NBA jersey designs to retailers this week and do not plan on producing the sleeved jerseys Adidas introduced in 2013.

The sleeved jerseys have been subject to criticism from both fans and players, most notably LeBron James.

The Cavs star said he was “not a big fan” of the jerseys after a poor shooting performance with them and even ripped off his sleeves during a game against the Knicks in 2015.

Now he’ll have to find a new excuse when he has an off night.
