Markelle Fultz botches first Instagram post as member of 76ers

It didn’t take long for Markelle Fultz to commit the first social media foul of his NBA career.

During Thursday night’s draft, the No. 1 pick’s social media crew forgot to include a couple of minor details in a post to Fultz’s Instagram account repping watch brand Tissot.

Markelle Fultz might be ready for the NBA, but his social media team may not be.

“Excited to head to (City) and join the (team name),” it read. “@Tissot.us is helping me get started with my (team name) watch.”

The comedy of the error is that filling in the blanks wasn’t exactly a game of Mad Libs. Fultz, a star guard out of the University of Washington, had long been pegged as the top pick, so as soon as the Sixers traded up for the Celtics’ No. 1 selection, the city and team name should have been clear.

The botched post was soon deleted and reshared with “Philadelphia” and “@sixers.”

Still, the gaffe has given more publicity to Fultz’s sponsor than a correct post ever would have.
