The Knicks made it official Wednesday evening, signing 8th overall pick Frank Ntilikina to his rookie contract.
As a result, the point guard is locked up for the next four years. The Frenchman is considered a project at 18 years old with a strong playmaking tendency and and length to make him a strong defender. The Knicks have not been able to get a good look at Ntilikina at Summer League. He suffered a bruised knee prior to joining the squad, and sat out the first four games — including Wednesday against the Magic.
The Knicks took the 18-year-old point guard with their first pick in this year’s draft, ahead of the likes of North Carolina State’s Dennis Smith Jr. and Kentucky’s Malik Monk. The Knicks scouted Ntilikina extensively overseas, where he played professionally in the French League.
