Jeffrey Earnhardt to make Daytona 500 debut in 2017

Fourth generation racer Jeffrey Earnhardt will make his first appearance in the Daytona 500 next month.

Jeffrey, the nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and grandson of Dale Earnhardt Sr., will compete in the 59th running of the event in the Circle Sport with The Motorsports Group Chevrolet. He will become the fourth member of his family to contest in the sport’s biggest race. His father Kerry made an attempt in 2005, but failed to make the big show.

Starter will serve as the primary sponsor for the race and has previously backed the 27-year-old in select events last year. The car is guaranteed a spot in the all 2017 events due to the Charter possessed by the No. 33 car.

Earnhardt has 24 starts at the Cup level, 22 of which came during the 2016 season. He posted a career-best finish of 26th in the Charlotte race last fall.
