Hear Blood Orange's New Group VeilHymn's 'Hymn' Song

Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, has teamed up with Starchild & the New Romantic’s Bryndon Cook to form the new group VeilHymn. The duo unveiled their first new song, “Hymn,” which Brooklyn Vegan premiered.

On the slow jam, Cook takes lead vocals, hitting soaring falsettos and later rapping, while Hynes takes on the production duties. It opens with some atmospheric outside sounds before the simmering groove sets in. “Calling out to you to try and move on/ And if something changes/ then let me know,” Cook yearningly sings.

“It’s in your mind and who knows if that’s the thing that’s right/ All you know is what you think’s inside,” he ponders on the chorus. “You just might lose your mind/ Better just forget it.”

“Hymn” will officially be released on Friday. Last summer, Hynes released his third LP under his Blood Orange moniker, Freetown Sound, which Cook also appears on.
