Formula 2 driver Sean Gelael will take part in three Formula 1 tests with Toro Rosso during the 2017 season in Bahrain, Hungary and Abu Dhabi.
Gelael, 20, has been a junior single-seater driver since 2012.
He finished 28th and 18th in European F3 in 2013 and 2014 respectively, before spending a year in Formula Renault 3.5.
He made his GP2 debut that year as well, and became a full-time driver in the series in 2016, finishing 15th with a podium finish at Red Bull Ring.
Gelael will make his official debut in a Formula 1 car on 18-19 April during the first in-season F1 test in Bahrain.
He will also take part in the Hungary test before the summer break and drive the STR12 in Abu Dhabi after the end of the 2017 season.
Gelael’s main 2017 programme will be Formula 2 with Arden.
