The Spaniard has struggled for game time this season and this latest injury is a blow for his chances of featuring in the first team
Arsenal forward Lucas Perez will be on the sidelines for three weeks with a thigh injury, Goal understands.
The Spaniard wasn’t included in the Gunners squad to face West Brom on Saturday and the club confirmed that Perez, along with German international Mesut Ozil, didn’t travel due to both players suffering thigh and hamstring injuries respectively.
Perez, who is determined to be included in the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup, has struggled for game time at Arsenal this season and Goal revealed last month that the 28-year-old will look to leave Emirates Stadium this summer in search of regular first team football.
Arsene Wenger’s side have won eight out of the nine games Perez has started so far and he continues to conjure up goals and assists whenever he plays.
He announced himself on English soil back in September when scoring two goals in an EFL Cup tie against Nottingham Forest and the summer signing from Deportivo La Coruna has made an impact in most of the 17 appearances he’s played in this season.
Perez is now set to miss the upcoming matches against both Manchester City and West Ham following the international break.
Meanwhile, Petr Cech and Alexis Sanchez both sustained injuries in the demoralising defeat at The Hawthorns but no timeframe has been given on their absence as of yet.
